Dollar up – Prices Down – Here’s an example

After checking this morning, the US dollar was 3.54 shekels a year ago. Today it’s 3.78. That’s an increase of 6.7%.

At the same time, the real estate boom has slowed and prices have dropped on average 3.7% in the last four months (more in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, less in the north and south of the country).

That means for foreign buyers, you can find places that are effectively 10% – 20% less for you than a year ago.

Here’s an example of a deal here in Yavne’el. This lovely 186 sq meter home on 1/2 dunam lot would have sold a year ago for NIS 1,325,000 firm (US 374,293). Today, the asking price is NIS 1,290,000 flexible (US $ 341, 269).

Stay tuned for more statistics next week. Contact Shmuel for details about this house

Chana with a Grapefruit in the Olive Orchard

We were looking at some farms in Migdal for a client and spent some time walking through olive, grapefruit and mango orchards. It was a beautiful and even spiritual experience.

Here’s Chana enjoying a lucious grapefruit and explaining how she’s enjoying being in the orchard even more…

Tsfat – Safed Artist’s Quarter (Video)

When you are visiting the Galilee and staying with us at Villa Rimona Zimmers, it’s a short drive to Tsfat.  After visiting all the historic sites including the Ancient Synagogues, graves of the Tzaddikim and the Ari’s Mikvah, take some time out to visit the Artist’s Quarter in the Old City of Tsfat.

There are some wonderful galleries to browse and when you are done shopping there are plenty of Kosher Restaurants in Tsfat to enjoy.

We took an impromptu trip up to Tsfat in the summer. Chana loves wandering through the artist’s quarter and we stopped for some lunch and ran into our old friends Amir and Nicole and their family. It’s a small country!

Take a ride on the new Jerusalem light rail train (video)

It was a very busy summer for us (I apologize for the lack of weekly vids). Our daughter Miriam was married to Yaakov, son Eli and Leah had a baby boy (Coby), and son Yonah became engaged to Sara. (wedding is b’h’ next week!).

In between all that bracha
we were busy welcoming guests to our vacation zimmers up here at Villa Rimona in Yavne’el.

However, during the summer
we had reason to be in Jerusalem. Wow, has Jaffa Road changed now that the new light rail train is operating. It’s actually RELAXING to have a cup of coffee at an outdoor cafe without the accompanying traffic, noise and exhaust fumes. I took a test ride on the train… take a look. Better yet, come try it yourself!
